How to fish it
Slow-rolled along structure with the blade just ticking the surface or running mid-water depending on retrieve speed. The skirt + blade combo produces both vibration and flash — fish home in on the vibration first, commit on the visual. Best for snags, drop-offs, weed edges, and timber.
Iconic for AU native species: Murray cod, golden perch (yellowbelly), saratoga, and bass. Specifically: Murray Cod, Australian Bass, Golden Perch. Largemouth tactics translate directly — slow-roll first, then bump structure, then burn over weed.
Trailer hooks add hookup rate on short-strikers; thread a stinger hook through the skirt collar and add a 3/0 to 5/0 octopus on the inside of the skirt. Match blade size to clarity: small Colorado for stained water, large willowleaf for clear, double willow for an in-between.
Cast tight to structure and start the retrieve before the lure sinks more than 60cm — the strike usually comes in the first metre. If fish swat without committing, slow down further or drop down a blade size. 20–30lb braid, 30–60lb leader for cod / saratoga work.
