Pelagic Z
A vibe / blade from Zerek.
How to fish it
Hopped or slow-rolled along the bottom. The blade vibrates on the lift and flutters on the drop — the strike usually comes on the drop as the blade flashes through the water column. Standard cadence: lift the rod 30–50cm, wind the slack as the blade falls, repeat.
Excellent in deeper estuary holes, river drop-offs, structure-rich impoundments, and over reef in 8–20m of water. Targets: Flathead, Mulloway, Bream. Bream, bass, golden perch, and yellowbelly love them in fresh; flathead, snapper, and mulloway will smash them in salt.
Match weight to depth: 1/8oz for sub-3m, 3/8oz for 3–8m, 1/2oz to 3/4oz for 8–20m. In current, go heavier than your gut says — the blade needs to vibrate, not pendulum out of the strike zone. Vary the lift height to test what fish want; sometimes 20cm hops outperform full sweeps.
Rig on 8–15lb fluorocarbon leader (20lb for snapper / mulloway / impoundment cod), 6–12lb braid. Single inline hooks instead of trebles improve release survival without losing hookup rate. Most factory blades come with solid split rings; add 30lb assist hooks if targeting snapper or mulloway.
